At Kapa‘au, North Kohala, dedicated island conservationists are
building Hawai‘i’s first wildlife recovery center. It will
be a place of healing and learning. The Hawai‘i Wildlife Center (HWC),
a 501(c)(3) conservation organization, will consist of three integrated
facilities: a wildlife care and response unit, an interpretive and
outreach courtyard, and an education pavilion. The Center will operate
7 days per week year-round.
For Hawai‘i’s vulnerable, too often endangered native species, HWC will perform hands-on rescue and recovery services for sick and injured wildlife and rapid response to oil spill and contaminant incidents. HWC will serve all Hawaiian Islands, including the Northwestern Islands extending to Midway and Kure atolls.
Incorporated in 2006, HWC received a $500,000 grant-in-aid from the legislature
this year. As we now kick off our capital campaign for the balance of needed
construction funds, we ask you to give generously to make HWC a reality.
Your tax deductible charitable contribution will support treatment, research, training, science education, cultural programs and wildlife recovery work undertaken in cooperation with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, the State of Hawai‘i Division of Forestry and Wildlife, and many other environmental organizations.
Please kokua. Make your donation to the HAWAI‘I WILDLIFE CENTER. Your gift will build a long-needed facility to sustain biodiversity in Hawai‘i, and will support the nurturing care of native wildlife for release to natural habitats. Click here if you wish to donate now with a secure online payment.
