Hawai‘i Wildlife Center November 2009 Newsletter

Aloha,

We have reached another milestone for the HWC. Construction is well underway. In the first week of November the foundation was poured.  This follows the installation of the plumbing and wastewater systems. Up next is the framing, roofing and siding….all before the end of 2009.

We can see the excitement building as the community follows the progress. We are now working hard to raise funding to complete the interior of the HWC building and begin onsite operations.

We are very grateful to for the support we have received to date from the community, from contributors and from the design/construction team. We are also pleased to report that due to material donations and discounted services from participating suppliers and sub-contractors we are coming in under budget for this phase of construction.

Going into this holiday season we have a lot to celebrate but we need your help to complete the construction of the HWC by this coming summer.  Your donation of any amount is critical in making this wildlife conservation and response resource a reality. The HWC will be the first native wildlife emergency response center in our State. It will enable us to save, rehabilitate and release threatened Hawaiian wildlife back into the wild. The HWC will also train volunteers and agency staff to respond to oil spills and other catastrophic events.

Thank you again for your support.

We wish you Happy Holidays.
