Aloha from the Hawai‘i Wildlife Center!
Welcome to your video update from HWC! This year broke all kinds of records. Over 1,000 patients were treated during seabird fallout season alone, and our current total patient count for this year has blown past 1,400. We also celebrated our 6,000th patient milestone, with the Governor proclaiming December 15, 2025 to be Native Bird and Bat Day in honor of this accomplishment. Then, before the ink could dry on the proclamation, we hit 7,000 patients due to the record seabird fallout numbers. Sounds like we may have to start increasing our milestone thresholds.
Our usual disclaimer: these stats were put together in early December! That means that many of these numbers will increase before the year is done.
Have a wonderful Holiday season. Enjoy!
